Seeking Qualified Candidates for Executive Director The Alleghany County Chamber of Commerce is seeking applicants for the position of Executive Director. The Chamber of Commerce is composed of member businesses, organizations and individuals working together to improve our local economy and create a better community.

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Chamber as developed by Board of Directors based on local community needs. This position will be a Chamber member advocate and be responsible for the growth of the Chamber membership.  The Executive Director is also responsible for working closely with the TDA to promote Alleghany County. This position also oversees the Alleghany County Visitors’ Center, its staff and volunteers and marketing for Alleghany County. The Executive Director will partner with agencies in the county to promote economic development. This is a full time, 40-hour, flexible position.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, and/or equivalent experience. Previous chamber experience is strongly preferred. Experience in a non-profit organization or as a chamber volunteer will be considered.  This is a high energy position.  Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position include supervisory skills, organizational skills, leadership skills, communication and collaboration abilities, marketing and social media abilities, budgeting skills, and knowledge of Alleghany county and surrounding area.

The successful candidate must relocate to Alleghany, if not a current resident. Physical ability to lift at least 40 lbs. Ability to work some weekends and evenings. Salary and benefits are negotiable.
